Top Tweets of the Week (September 19, 2012)

Excuse me, but how is it already half-way through September? I can’t handle it. The Jewish holidays are here, the nights are getting chilly, the kids are back at school, we’re all going apple picking, and Halloween is just around the corner — I’d ask time to slow down but frankly I just got really excited for everything to come! Let’s not waste another minute though — we simply don’t have time to spare. Here’s this week’s Tweet Beat!

My post is late this week because I was celebrating Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, so I loved reading Melissa’s perspective on it: “This new year I will teach my kids, that family is not where you come from- but who you’ve become and who you choose to bring into your life.”Beautiful.

Last week marked the eleventh anniversary of September 11, 2001. I’d like to echo the Botanical Garden’s in saying I hope it was a peaceful day of remembrance for you and your family.

Well, that’s upsetting. Does this ring true for you?

This was a fascinating and eye-opening read. If you’re going to read one long form essay today (or this week!) make this the one — it’s really worth the time.

Oy, I am the worst with this. What are your tricks? I play with my phone and pray I’m invisible.

YUM! Apple picking is my favorite fall activity. Send a few this way if you have too many!

I like when things I find on the internet are genuinely useful. This is one of those times.

A shocking realization for everyone involved, clearly. Sigh.

It’s Wednesday again (!), which means this Monday post is two days late — but on the bright side it means that we’re two days away from a weekend filled with reading all over again! What are you reading these days (both with the kids and by yourself)?

To conclude: did you know Halloween is just around the corner? It is! And we adore Halloween. So we thought, hey, why not share the love? We are celebrating the spooky holiday with a new treat of the day every — you guessed it — day! and a slew of #giveaways — three a week! — that will all lead up to our annual photo contest, where you can enter your adorable kids in their awesome costumes and possibly win the grand prize (and the pride that goes with it)! A weekend at @SesamePlace is one of our big prizes, so be sure to check out our Halloween site and stay up to date with all the ways you can win. Join us on Mondays for more Top Tweets.
