Weekly Web Round-Up: Week of May 10, 2013

After a bit of a hiatus, we’re back with a short and sweet (and video-based) edition of the web round-up. This week we’ve included young kids trying new foods, fifth graders in Manhattan interviewing successful people for career day, and Kid President with an open letter to moms to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Do you remember the first time you tried a lemon? What about the first time you tried an olive? This short film—filmed in slow motion— captures children’s reactions when trying new foods. Matt Gilmour, creative director of marketing agency Saatchi & Saatchi, got the idea for this film when his 2-year-old daughter was disappointed with the taste of a gherkin. This little girl is trying olives for the first time.

Relativity Media recently included a group of fifth grade students from Lémon Manhattan in its “Career Day” videos on its YouTube channel COIN. In this video, the fifth graders are interviewing CEO and co-founder of Thrillist Adam Rich. Check out the other videos on Coin’s YouTube channel.   And in celebration of Mother’s Day, Kid President (our favorite child politician who just wants the world to dance) recorded an open letter to all mothers with 10 things every mom needs to know, including “Number 1: Put down your phone, unless your kid is named phone. Number 2: Don’t name your kid Phone. That’s just not right. That’s messed up.”

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there!
