Fitness Program Helps Kids Stay Active and Healthy

Westchester County fitness center Will2Lose now offers tween and teen fitness classes in Scarsdale. The healthy lifestyle classes aim to help kids get in shape and stay active and bring those healthy activities such as sit-ups, burpees, squats, and healthy cooking into the home to get the whole family involved.

Will2Win is a fun program that combines functional moves and cardio to increase strength and endurance and builds kids’ self-confidence and self-esteem.

Will2Lose, a fitness center in Westchester County, began offering its eight-week kids fitness program Will2Win for children ages 9-16 earlier this year. Classes of this year-round program are available four times a week—two classes are for kids ages 9-12, and two are for teens ages 13-16. The maximum class size is 10 students with one instructor.

“Due to the many requests to start a kids fitness program coming from our members, the increasingly high rates of childhood obesity and associated diabetes, we knew that we had to offer something,” says Vito DiMatteo, president of Will2Lose.

The program aims to bring health and fitness into the home. Children are asked to take what they have learned home by completing assignments with their families, such as sit-ups, burpees, squats, and cooking.

DiMatteo says kids enjoy exercising in a comfortable environment with coaches that are always ready to offer words of encouragement. Will2Win is offering a variety of classes, including strength training, hip-hop, Zumba, spinning, cardio kick boxing, and boot camp. The class space is limited, so registration is required.
