LUXURY

The Landings St. Lucia, A RockResort, opens in December with one- to three-bedroom suites with full kitchens.  The resort has a spa, fitness center, pool, windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling, sailing and family “Creole Kids” cooking classes.  A marina with helicopter access offers alternative arrivals. Intro  “Family Getaway” Rates start at $549 per night for a one-bedroom suite, with breakfast. (877) 657-ROCK or http://landings.rockresorts.com.

The Westin St. John (pictured), a lush resort, with its own ferry service from St. Thomas, has the chain’s signature ‘Heavenly Beds’ which practically guarantee a great rest.  The Westin Kids Club has supervised activities for ages 3-12, including pool time, indoor and outdoor games, and iguana hunts.  There is also a playground.  The Teen Center keeps older kids occupied.  The Westin just started Suite Sleepover packages, $1,569 per night and up, for two adults and up to four children, with a pizza party for the kids, birthday cake, turndown, late checkout, and__ a morning-after massage for the parents.  Regular in-season rates start at $719 a night. MODERATE

The Coco Palm in St. Lucia has a “Coco Family Island Adventure” package for a family of four; it includes five nights in a two-bedroom suite, breakfast, all non-motorized water sport activities, a rainforest tour, one-day Jeep rental, and water taxi to a hiking trail, for $2,570.  Call (866) 588-5980 or go to www.coco-resorts.com.

Atlantis, Paradise Island, is known for its luxury accommodations, but Beach Towers offers in-season rates of $245 a night and you still have access to the fabulous new water park, Aquaventure, as well as six pools with water slides and a water playground, a lazy river ride, a long beach, and The Dig, the huge aquarium with thousands of fish and a touch tank. (888) 528-7155 or www.atlantis.com.

BUDGET

Maho Bay Campgrounds on St. John has ecologically sensitive apartments that are great for the budget and the environment.  The studio apartments use solar design, rainwater collection and recycled materials.  You are right on a beach that offers kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving, and there’s a restaurant if you don’t want to cook in your kitchen.
Rates start at $120 a night.  (800) 392-9004 or www.maho.org.
