"Yawning Yoga: A Goodnight Book for a Good Night's Sleep" by Laurie Jordan helps children establish a bedtime routine that incorporates yoga poses while also allowing parents to positively interact and bond with their kids before bedtime.
Holding yoga poses helps both kids and parents increase the quality of sleep and helps them to relax because it transfers focus from the stresses of the day to focus on yoga postures, relaxation techniques and breathing.
The Greenwich-based author, who is also the director of kids programming at Kaia Yoga in Greenwich and Westport, created "Yawning Yoga" to help destress and destimulate children. The book provides explanations of each technique using Dr. Seuss-like prose that are accompanied by vibrant illustrations.
