The Woodland Corps offers a volunteers a chance to garden and clean up Prospect Park's more than 250 acres of forest.

Disney Theatrical Productions Presents 'Newsies The Musical' on Broadway - Nederlander Theatre
Through December 31, 2012 - Manhattan

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, this movie-turned-musical is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged 'newsies,' who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what's right. "Newsies" is inspired by the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst, and other powerful newspaper publishers. The stage version introduces several brand-new songs by the original team while keeping many of the beloved songs from the film, including "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day," "King of New York," and "Santa Fe."

Kids' Yoga - Bend and Bloom Yoga

Bend and Bloom Yoga offer children's yoga classes. Mondays are for 8-12 year olds. Tuesdays are for 3-5 year olds. Wednesdays are for 6-8 year olds. Kids are allowed to drop in ($18) or register for a series of classes. Family classes for moms and tots are also available.

Bug Out! - Brooklyn Children's Museum

'The Little Engine That Could' Puppet Show - New York Botanical Garden

Big Annie saves Christmas by using her incredible strength to pull a boatload of christmas toys through a storm. Three dimensional puppets and a unique shadow screen help make this production a captivating one.

Christmas Lights and Cannoli Tour - Dyker Heights and Bay Ridge Neighborhood Streets

Tour some Brooklyn nabes where the front lawn Christmas lights are truly completely over the top. Ride in a luxury coach bus and enjoy free cannoli and hot chocolate. Tour begins in Manhattan.

The beloved Charles Schulz classic featuring a live jazz trio playing Vince Guaraldi's famous soundtrack.

ReGeneration - New York Hall of Science

This exhibition explores the connection of cultural vitality to immigration, urbanization, and sustainability through the intersection of art, technology, and science. Fourteen artists/groups will participate to connect audiences through active participation, aesthetic beauty, technology, culturally shared symbols, and vocabulary. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Holiday Train Show - New York Botanical Garden
Through January 13, 2013 - Bronx

Marvel at the charming model trains and New York City landmark replicas, stroll the spectacular grounds, and decorate (and eat!) gingersnaps. Within the enchanting setting of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, model trains zip over bridges and past replicas of New York landmarks made of plant parts such as nuts, bark, and leaves. Show favorites include the original Yankee Stadium, Statue of Liberty, and Brooklyn Bridge. The Artist's Studio provides an insider's look at how the replicas are constructed as you get up close to G-gauge trains.

'The Velveteen Rabbit' - DR2 Theatre

Based on the book by Margery Williams and adapted for the stage by Kevin Del Aguila ("Click Clack Moo," "Altar Boyz"), this wonder-filled production is a testament to the power of a child's imagination. With a little bit of nursery magic, three actors and their simple props transform into a wise old rocking horse, a cavalcade of mechanical playthings, a kind-hearted fairy, and of course, a stuffed rabbit who is transformed by the love of a young boy.

Natural History - Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Artist Patrick Dougherty and a team of volunteers constructed a monumental woven-wood sculpture in honor of Brooklyn Botanic Garden's centennial. The result, large-scale sculptures made from sticks and saplings, is an organic structure that changes over time as the materials settle and decay.
