Kids will be making an easy and yummy, kid-friendly snack (cookies, mini pizzas, etc) from start to finish. They'll practice using real cooking tools like small mixers and toaster ovens in their recipes -- of course, adult help will be required. Helping in the kitchen is a great learning tool as children practice measuring ingredients, following directions and building their vocabulary.

Jr. Iron Chef Competitions - Whole Foods Market - Lake Grove

Middle and high school students are invited to compete, in teams, to create unique dishes that feature local and USDA commodity ingredients. Sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension and Whole Foods. The goal is to create an awareness and appreciation of the sustainable food system and to get schools committed to providing quality, locally-grown foods for their students. “The George W. Bush Presidency: Points of Perspective” Exhibition - David Filderman Gallery

This original HUM exhibition provides a balanced focus on seven points of impact to the nation which required George W. Bush administration responses and decisions. Works of art, documents, photographs and objects cover selected thematic areas including the 2000 Election, September 11, 2001, The War on Terror: Afghanistan and Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, the 2008 Economic Crisis, Social Security Reform, and AIDS and Malaria Initiatives in Africa. This exhibition is presented in association with the Hofstra Cultural Center international conference, The George W. Bush Presidency (March 24 - 26, 2015). The exhibition runs through April 10, 2015.

KaleidoZone – Paint Me a Story: The Art of Javaka Steptoe - Long Island Children's Museum

Javaka Steptoe is an award-winning artist and book illustrator. The Harlem born, Brooklyn raised visual artist uses diverse and eclectic materials -- from candy wrappers to 14k jewelry -- to create playful images with three-dimensional qualities. Traveling Exhibit - Healthyville® - Long Island Children's Museum

This bilingual (English/Spanish), interactive exhibit teaches health and wellness lessons through play-filled activities and educational messages that foster learning by doing. “From Portraits to Tweets: Imagery, Technology and the U.S. Presidency” Exhibition - Emily Lowe Gallery

From a Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington to a Rauschenberg print, to contemporary tweets depicting President Obama, this exhibition, developed by the HUM, traces the public’s shifting perceptions of the American presidency through the use of visual imagery. This exhibition is presented in association with the Hofstra Cultural Center international conference, The George W. Bush Presidency (March 24 - 26, 2015). The exhibition runs through May 8,2015.

Toddler Camp promotes early learning by organizing stimulating and themed activities at outdoor locations for toddlers. Penguin Encounter - Long Island Aquarium & Exhibition Center

Toddler Time - Sky Zone Deer Park
Through December 31, 2015 - Deer Park

Children ages 5 and under can jump and a parent/guardian may participate for free. For safety reasons at no point may an adult jump on the same trampoline as a child. During toddler time adults may sit/stand on the trampoline pads to accompany their children. This activities takes place Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays year-round.

Behind-the-Scenes Tours - Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center
Through December 31, 2016 - Riverhead

Go behind-the-scenes and see firsthand all that's involved in creating a home for the aquatic residents, including helping to feed the clownfish. Takes place daily, year-round.

Sky Zone Cares - Sky Zone Deer Park
Through December 31, 2017 - Deer Park

Sky Zone Deer Park Indoor Trampoline Park will be opening on the first Monday of each month exclusively for jumpers with special needs. Sky Zone Deer Park team members have been trained and certified by Missing Piece Awareness to be autism aware and accepting and special modifications have been implemented by the management team. On this day for children and adults with special needs, Sky Zone dials down the music, increases the staff ratio, and limits capacity. The Sky Zone team understands the need to provide families affected by autism with a recurring session time where individuals can learn the rules and practice them in a safe and comfortable environment so they can eventually generalize these skills and be fully integrated at any time. Takes place the first Monday of the month through June 2015.
