Chinese Theatre Works presents "Hao Bang Ya, Rabbits!" - Long Island Children's Museum
November 25, 2011 - Garden City

"Hao Bang Ya" is a common Chinese expression meaning "Great!" or "Well done!" This show features a jolly selection of puppet vignettes; many based on popular songs and or well-known Chinese sayings. While some parts of the program are performed in Chinese, all include English explanations. Sing-alongs, audience participation and hands-on demonstrations make it fun for all audience members.

Home for the Holidays: A Designer Showhouse at Orchard Hill - Orchard Hill at Old Westbury Gardens

This charming 1856 farmhouse will be opened to the public for only the third time in its history. The beautiful rooms will be individually decorated by over 20 of the most talented and creative designers in the New York area. Each room will feature a different holiday motif from Chanukah to Swedish Christmas to the Nutcracker. Children under 12 are not permitted in the Showhouse. The house will be on display through December 18, 2011.

Enter a magical place where five centuries-old folktales bring to life the culture and traditions of Viet Nam. Aspects of modern day life in Viet Nam are interwoven with the presentation of old folktale in interactive "theaters." Traditions explored include wedding ceremonies, ancestral worship practices, cultural dances, and the Vietnamese bonds to their land and water. The exhibit demonstrates the connection between folktales and the enduring values and traditions they represent. The exhibit runs through January 8, 2012.
