If your kids have been using your expensive pots and pans as stand ins for that drum set they've been dreaming about, they'll get a real kick out of the new monthly series at the Player's Theatre. Young musicians will have the opportunity to make their own percussion instrument before the performance, with help from the members of Percussion People, of course. And kids will be everywhere, including the stage: the group includes thirteen-year-old Emily Sgouros. Children will recognize some of the more familiar instruments, like bongos and triangles, and will also be introduced to marimbas, Italian tambourines, djembe drums and more as Percussion People explore the history of percussion and its role in various cultures, all with dynamic demonstration. And at the end of the show your child can take home his instrument, which means your pots and pans can actually be used for cooking once again. All performances are Sundays at 11am. Instrument building workshop at 10:30am.

An opportunity for children with physical disabilities ages 7 and older and their able-bodied siblings or friends to participate in a drop-off art class together. This program is intended to make the museum's art-making accessible to all needs and provide an opportunity for siblings to spend time with each other and with peers who have similar experiences.If a child with a physical disability doesn't have a sibling to attend the session with him or her, the child may bring along a friend instead. Each session offers a new workshop that is designed to meet the needs of the participants. This program is staffed with CMA teaching artists and a licensed occupational therapist(s). This program is based on a class-like model in which the teaching artists and the OT work to facilitate the group experience, with a keen eye towards the special needs of the participants;?if your child requires dedicated one-on-one attention you should consider bringing a paraprofessional or other adult to help facilitate your child's experience. Parents are encouraged to drop off their children, though they are welcome to stay if they wish or remain close by in another part of the museum. Friendship Bracelet and Lanyard Making Class - The Lanyard Ladies

Nature on the Go - Prospect Park Audubon Center
Through October 31, 2013 - Flatbush

Kids have fun out in nature by playing animal charades, pretending to be a bat trying to catch a moth, or joining in many other fun and active nature games that teaches them about the nature around us. Led by a park naturalist.

African Dance Workshop - Spring Valley Youth Bureau
Through December 23, 2013 - Spring Valley

Harambee Dance Company, fabulous performers of African dance and music, teach this weekly workshop. Registration is requested.

Seasonal Workshop - Jill's Ceramics
Through December 30, 2013 - West Nyack

Jill will help artists of all ages design seasonal or holiday-themed crafts. Her selection includes jewelry boxes, candy dishes, mugs, plates, picture frames, vases, and more. Pieces can be taken home that day or left for glazing. Fee includes instruction. Pre-registration is requested. Toddler workshops are held each Monday and Tuesday. All-ages workshops are held each Friday.
