The NYMetroParents blogroll features the best blogs in the parenting world, from New York and beyond. Here's a closer look at why we love these mom bloggers and dad bloggers and how they're shaping the web for parenting today.

Blogging From: Queens, NY

Ever since Jason Greene was little, he aspired to become an actor and a writer. After college, Greene set out to chase his dream with his wife and arrived in New York City. After years of auditioning and meager results, Greene found out that he was going to be a father. Once his son was born, he became a stay-at-home dad and is now the proud father of three kids. Greene’s blog, OneGoodDad, covers a whole host of topics including parenting challenges and rewards, faith, entertainment, and sports, or as he teasingly sums it up, “just a dad and his will to survive.”

OneGoodDad is characterized by long, well thought out posts that truly capture Greene’s reflections and occasionally feature some wonderful pictures of him and his adorable kids. The best part is that he is not afraid to get personal as his posts often cover some really difficult topics. A good example of this is his post devoted to his experience having a stroke as a result of a blood clot. All of Greene’s thoughts about his experiences as a father are engrossing and often include some advice that can certainly be helpful to other dads ranging anywhere from how to help your children deal with grief to how to be a good husband. He even has a post with 10 tips of how to survive your wife’s labor (which seriously is an entertaining must-read for any soon-to-be fathers!).

But don’t think that all of his posts are serious, because Greene clearly likes to have a good time and joke around as all of the coolest dads do. He has a tab on his blog for “New York City Attractions” where he writes about fun things to do with (and without) the kids around the city. He also has “Toy Reviews” and “Book Reviews” tabs where he fills you in on the details of some of the best new children’s toys and books out there.

To all of the wonderful dads roaming the parenting blogs, OneGoodDad is definitley the blog for you. Greene proves that dads can handle parenting just as well as moms can, and he shows that you can have a lot of fun doing it, too. –  Melanie Shapiro
