"Art Within Nature," by Robert Uricchio, will be on display at The Oresman Gallery in the Larchmont Public Library. This show features landscape photography of the Hudson Valley and a variety of other locations. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, runs through January 30th. After a twenty-year career as a New York City Police Officer, Robert Uricchio returns to his original passion - photography. At an early age he began taking pictures locally of his home in Jackson Heights, New York. His love of travel and the outdoors inspires his work. He lives in Westchester, where he photographs the Hudson Valley landscape during his hikes. Mr. Uricchio studied photography at St. John's University, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Arts. His work has appeared in several libraries, such as The Architecture for Art Gallery in Hillsdale, NY; The Salmagundi Aft Gallery in New York City; The Rockefeller State Park Art Gallery in Tarrytown, NY; and The Mill Street Loft Art Gallery in Beacon, NY, where he won an honorable mention award for the image "Bahama Sunrise." His images are on display at the Art for Health Program at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt, NY, where two images are included in the private collection, and six images are displayed in the MRI Suite. Additionally, Uricchio photographed several museums and their works of art for the web site architectureforart.com, and has edited many videos about museums, their art, artists, and architects. ’Twas the Night Before Christmas: A Holiday Reading With NBC New York's Anchor Pat Battle - Church of the Intercession

One of New York's longest running family holiday traditions is the annual recitation of Clement Clarke Moore's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, this year read by News 4 New York's anchor Pat Battle, at historic Church of the Intercession. Lantern procession, wreath-laying at Moore's grave site and reception immediately follow at Trinity Church Cemetery & Mausoleum, located across from the church. Pat Battle joined NBC New York in April 1996. She serves as co-anchor for “Weekend Today in New York” and is one of the station’s New Jersey correspondents. Battle’s reports focus on issues affecting the Garden State, as well as breaking news of the day. Clement Clarke Moore (1779-1863) was the son of Dr. Benjamin Moore, the sixth rector of Trinity Parish. In 1822, as a Christmas present for his six children, Moore wrote the poem also known as “A Visit from St. Nicholas” that became a cherished classic. Moore is buried at Trinity Church Cemetery & Mausoleum, which is located across from The Church of the Intercession.

Sculpture Exploration Backpack - Hofstra University Museum

Kids and their grown up companions can stop in at the Hofstra University Museum's Emily Lowe Gallery, and pick up a backpack. At the end of your tour, return the backpack and each child will receive a small gift from the Museum. The program runs through January 1, 2014.

Outdoor Sculpture Biennial - Adelphi University
Through May 31, 2014 - Garden City

See the work of 10 skilled sculptors located throughout the scenic 75-acre arboretum on the Garden City campus. This outdoor installation showcases the talents of Miggy Buck (NY), John Clement (NY), Maria Hall (NY), Ed Haugevik (NY), William King (NY), Anti Liu (NY), Johnny Poux (NY), Kim Radochia (MA), Christopher Saucedo (NY), and Hans Van de Bovenkamp (NY). Works of art encompass use of various materials-steel, bronze, aluminum, concrete and reflective mirrors. These man-made creations are transposed into poetic visual narrations. The exhibition runs through May 31, 2014.
