Located in the heart of Queens, Garden School provides a memorable school experience for children. Garden School was founded in 1923 to meet the need for a high-quality, independent school in Queens. Garden School works with families in partnerships that fulfil the promises made to provide rigorous academic programs in a nurturing environment. When children enter the early learning years at Garden school, it is the first step in an educational experience that will continue through high school. Starting with 2-year olds, the school provides a balance of work and play that introduces children to the learning process. Teachers design classroom activities to help foster creativity, logical thinking and independence in all students. The program is coordinated through themes, reading and written work, student projects and trips. Students in grades 1-6 begin to study reading, writing, social studies, science, math and computer, along with classes in art, music and physical education. For students in grades 7-12, the faculty remains dedicated to assuring that students continue to develop both intellectually and personally in a challenging academic environment. Honors courses are also available as well as Advanced Placement courses in all disciplines. Intensive college counselling begins at grade 9 with 100 percent of students going on to college. Call Garden School for more information.
BACK TO SCHOOL
Changing schools can change everything. Smaller classes mean more attention; allow each child to directly benefit from instruction and independent work; and means that your child’s teachers will have time to work with your child and communicate with you. From nursery through grade 12, Garden School offers a seamless education in a safe environment; prepares children for college and a lifetime of learning; and can help you change your child’s future, starting in September. Call to see the school, learn about the Garden experience, and discuss our new transportation program.
BEHIND THE BUSINESS
Driven by a formidable sense of community and passion for ideas and learning, Dr. Richard Marotta makes it his job to ensure that every student at Garden School, (an independent K-12 private school) feels like a valued member of their community. He engages his students; infusing values through community involvement and community happenings. He has been the Headmaster of the Garden School since 1991, responsible for re-tooling the school’s faculty, administration and ancillary summer and after-school programs.
