Kew-Forest School (The)
119-17 Union Tpke | Forest Hills, NY | (718) 268-4667 | www.kewforest.org

The Kew-Forest School, established in 1918, is the oldest independent, coed, college preparatory school in Queens, New York.  Located in Forest Hills, Kew-Forest offers a challenging academic experience, a culturally diverse peer group, and a structured, caring environment to students in grades Pre-K through 12.

Kew-Forest's international and diverse student body hails from many different areas of Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island.  The school is NYSAIS and Middle States accredited and prides itself on its academic rigor and the numerous opportunities it affords its students.

Academically, students are intellectually nurtured and challenged at Kew-Forest.  The low student-to-faculty ratio permits each student to receive the individualized attention he or she needs.  College counseling begins in 8th Grade to enable students and their parents to understand fully and prepare for the process, with the overall goal of discovering the "best fit" between child and college.

Spanish language class begins in the early grades and can be traded for French in 7th Grade.  Latin is required beginning in 7th Grade, and Music, Art and Physical Education are offered throughout the curriculum to provide students with access to a variety of academic, athletic and creative experiences.  Kew-Forest also offers a broad array of AP courses and gears its high school classes towards preparing students for the challenges that await them in college.

Recent college admissions include: Boston College, Brandeis, Brown, Carnegie-Mellon, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, McGill, Mt. Holyoke, NYU, Parsons, Smith, St. Andrews, Vassar, Washington University, Wellesley, Wesleyan, Yale, U Chicago, U Penn and the University of Paris.

Students take part in community service activities and are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities.  These include student government, student publications, Varsity and JV sports, Model United Nations, and Mock Trial, along with various performing arts, cultural, and community service groups.  The school has also partnered with the West Side Tennis Club for its tennis program.

Kew-Forest's historic campus houses a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a modern science laboratory, and a unique blending of research tools in its LibraTechTM (Library and Technology) Centers.  These are part of the school's ongoing efforts to provide students with the best resources available as they journey along the road toward college. Kew-Forest also offers Financial Aid for qualified families, before- and after-care options to give working parents extra flexibility, and an eight week summer program for Grades Pre-K through 6 and the Counselor-in-Training Program for Grades 7 & 8.

Kew-Forest looks forward to welcoming you and your family into our community in 2010.  We are conveniently located a block from the Union Turnpike stop on the E and F trains, and visitors are invited to use our parking lot.  For more information and for a schedule of upcoming open houses, please visit www.kewforest.org or email our Director of Admission & Financial Aid, Halima Taha, at htaha@kewforest.org.
