The Jewish Youth Connection at KJ is a total reinvention of the Hebrew school experience. JYC students learn when they are fresh and ready on Sunday mornings with small classes focused on Bible studies, Jewish history, customs, and holidays. Your children will want to run to JYC.
We provide all of our students from second grade and up with individual tutors (Big Brothers/Sisters) for the teaching of Hebrew language. Our methodology takes the drudgery out of learning Hebrew and makes children comfortable with the Jewish prayer book.
JYC, sponsored by Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun (KJ) and now in its twelfth year, was founded by Susan and Scott Shay on the premise that the traditional synagogue Hebrew school needed to be totally reinvented in order to remain a force in Jewish identity. It has grown from 4 students in the first year to over 80 today.
BACK TO SCHOOL
The Jewish Youth Connection at Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun is a reinvention of the Hebrew school experience. JYC students (ages 5 through Bar/Bat Mitzvah) learn on Sunday mornings with small classes focused on Bible studies, Jewish history, customs and holidays. We offer individualized Hebrew language tutors for students in second grade and up. No synagogue membership is required. We pride ourselves in creating a nurturing, Jewish family environment with special programs, Shabbat and holiday experiences, and classes for parents as well. Our concern is quality connection to Judaism for your family!
