Join us this summer for our Super Summer Kids program! This is a unique, intensive social skills group experience for children who have difficulty connecting with peers. Participants learn new skills while having fun within a safe and supportive environment. We offer a 3:1 child/therapist ratio and small group size. For children in K-2, groups meet for one hour, twice a week. For children in 3rd grade through high school, groups meet for 1 1/2 hours, twice a week. The program runs for 6 weeks, June 29th-August 6th.
MEET THE DOCTOR
Barbara Cooper and Nancy Widdows founded SuperKids in 1999 to fill a gap in services for children and teens with social learning needs. Since then, SuperKids has grown into a multi-faceted practice offering therapeutic, after-school groups and individual therapy in three locations, providing professional trainings as CT CEU providers, and consulting to school districts. Barbara and Nancy have also authored two popular social skills workbooks. The SuperKids staff is highly trained to help children communicate and change their behaviors. They use cognitive-behavioral therapy to teach social cognition and develop coping strategies.
DEVELOPMENTAL/LEARNING DISABILITIES
SuperKids is the place where children and teens who experience difficulty fitting in with their peers come to feel safe and learn the skills necessary to improve their social world. The program is designed to help children with social issues related to diagnoses such as Asperger’s Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, PDD (NOS), Non-verbal Learning Disability, anxiety disorders, and related disorders. Abstract social concepts are broken down into concrete, teachable steps in a fun, therapeutic environment so that children can begin to make sense of their social interactions and the reactions of their peers.
