Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts’ Theatre Education Program Summer Theatre Enhancement is an intensive theatre-training program. It is designed to give all students, novices and seasoned performers alike, the opportunity to participate in the theatre experience. While we would like to think all participants would become active theatre participants, the goals of each session are to give the student a creative, collaborative atmosphere that fosters their self-esteem and communication skills.

Coming up next:
Mythos – The Might of the Myth, the Power of Puppets is the 50 minute story of a young puppet boy questioning the imperfect world that he has come to know. With the help of his poet father, he embarks on a journey to better understand life through the stories and lessons of famous (and infamous) characters from Ancient Greek mythology. More importantly, he begins to discover what we can all do make our world a better place.
The visual beauty of MYTHOS lies in the use of puppetry. Every myth is explored through different forms of the art. The show opens with shadow puppetry, folk art and beautifully crafted hand and rod puppets. As it continues, we entertain audiences with fun miniatures, marionettes and Banraku full body style puppets.
