New York, NY -June 4th, 2008-

After 20 years in a small dance studio in Sheepshead Bay, Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn has finally found a beautiful new “home” to accommodate its growing dance school and company. Formerly known as Covenant Dance Theatre and Covenant Dance Studio, the company recently transformed itself into a nonprofit entity, Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn, Inc. To celebrate the relocation to its 3,400 sq. ft. storefront space with up-to-date amenities at 2085 Coney Island Avenue between Kings Highway and Avenue R), a big grand opening bash is being planned forJune 6 & 7.

“Can you see me leaping for joy?  I am also simultaneously falling to my knees in gratitude to my Father in Heaven for answering prayers…,” said Marla Hirokawa, Artistic Director of CBTB.

The Grand Opening Festivities will begin on Friday night, June 6th with Brenda Neville, founder of Neville Dance Theatre, and principal company member and teaching staff of CBTB, giving an Argentine Tango Workshop at 7-10pm.  The class is open to couples and singles at minimal fees.  On Saturday, June 7th, the grand opening events will include a ribbon cutting ceremony officiated by Brooklyn Councilman Michael C. Nelson, a short dance parade by the students of CBTB Dance Academy along Kings Highway, and free walk-in 30-minute classes in pre-ballet, beginner ballet, modern, tap, flamenco, and Argentine Tango. Free music classes will also be given by the brand new NoteAble Music School which will be a permanent presence at CBTB’s new location. A big dance party will be the grand slam finale to the festivities.  All are welcome and you are guaranteed that it will be a celebration you won’t want to miss!

For details, please call (718) 891-6199 or check online at www.covenantballet.org.

CBTB’s transformation would not be possible without the support of Councilman Michael C. Nelson, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, its Board of Directors, its friend Max Solomon, its volunteers and all the students and their parents.
