The following charitable organizations are accepting donations throughout the holiday season for needy families in Brooklyn.


Brooklyn Community Foundation

CAMBA asks community residents to donate to their Annual Holiday Food Drive to help keep their food pantry well-stocked. Donations should be fresh, whole foods (potatoes, squash, and apples) and non-perishables that are low in salt, sugar, and saturated fat. Check CAMBA's website for drop-off locations near you.


Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child invites residents in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and Nassau County, Long Island, to fill shoe boxes with toys, school supplies, and necessity items for children in need to be distributed to eight million children all over the world, including the victims of Haiti's earthquake and recent cholera outbreak.

If you would like to make a donation to this organizations' 10th Annual Sponsor-A-Family holiday drive, call or visit the website. The program hopes to provide holiday toys and meals to more than 2,000 families in need.


Young Israel of Flatbush

Young Israel of Flatbush will sponsor a Community Fundraiser Family Bingo Night in February to raise money for local nonprofits. In addition to asking local organizations to donate gifts for the event's raffles, gift bags, and prizes, all of the money raised will go towards helping locals in need, youth centers, camps, and more. Date TBD. Call for more details.
