Camp director Erin Shaw is thrilled to be leading BCAP�s talented team of educators and counselors again in 2014! Erin received her M.A. in educational leadership from Lesley University, and her B.A. in art education from American University. She has many years of experience teaching, coaching, and coordinating programs for kids. "I love BCAP because we have six amazing cultural institutions to call home," she says. "They are our playground for art, science, culture, friendship, and fun!"
Emily Rios offers health conscious, hands-on cooking classes for children. Her background as a teacher and social worker have helped shape her belief that cooking is a powerful medium to develop social, cognitive, language and motor skills. A self-proclaimed ?foodie,? Ms. Rios has a strong background in Asian and Latin American cuisine. This summer, Creative Cooks Camp offers 10 weeks of cooking and food explorations for ages 5-11. Days will be spent in and out of the kitchen; cooking and visiting international markets and local farms. Come cook with us!
For more than 25 years Christine Altman has been bringing quality child care programs to Park Slope. Whether it�s her holiday week camps or Park Explorers Summer Camp, she brings out the best in each child. She understands each child is different, and therefore mixes special programs in theater, gymnastics, and sports with regular camp activities and trips, so all children can have a great summer. Many staff members are former campers who come back to share the fun they had as campers.
Ronny is always busy coming up with new ideas for how to make camp even better. Since 1992, he has developed PSDC into multiple programs and spread the camp's spirit throughout Brooklyn. He has no intention of slowing down: "I want our children and staff to have the most enriching and memorable summer possible. So that means, for me, the work never stops," he says with a smile. Ronny holds an M.A. in Education, and has spent more than 25 years running camps and after-school programs. When he gets free time, he enjoys spending it outdoors with his family and his dog, Julius.
Cindy Goldrich specializes in parenting children and teens with ADHD. She helps parents reduce arguing, stress, and chaos to help children reach their true potential. Cindy conducts a parent workshop series to help parents develop the tools to create a calm, more compliant environment. Specific strategies are developed to establish workable, realistic rules and expectations, reduce homework stress, and improve children’s problem solving, self-advocacy, and communication skills. Additional services include school support, staff development, and presentations. Coaching is available in person on Long Island and Manhattan or via phone.
