Description: Director Peter Jackson filmed The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in 3-D at 48 frames per second to invite the audience to enter Middle-earth for an immersive cinematic experience. Emblematic of this experience is a series of specially commissioned lenticular posters, featuring seventeen of the main characters in the film, including Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, Thorin Oakenshield, Gollum, and Galadriel. These posters are being shown only in specialized showcases. They were designed for Comic-Con International in San Diego, which took place in July 2012, and are being exhibited at the world premiere in New Zealand on November 28, 2012, the American premiere on December 6, 2012 in Manhattan, and at two exhibition venues: the high-end Grove shopping center in Los Angeles, and here at Museum of the Moving Image in New York City.
