Venue Description: Ambler Farm is a restored and self-sustaining 200 year-old working farm in Wilton, CT that provides the community with a place to connect with the land and the town's past through hands-on educational programming, sustainable farming in harmony with nature, animal husbandry, and community activities. Ambler Farm is set on 22 acres of rolling fields complete with stone walls and breathtaking views. There are several buildings and gardens on the property, including the Raymond-Ambler House, Yellow House, Carriage Barn, Red Barn, and the Heirloom Gardens, a 4,500-square-foot garden behind the Yellow House. Ambler's educational programming is comprised of a range of offerings for all ages led by both staff members and volunteers. The goal of these programs is simply to learn by doing. All activities encourage engagement, whether it is with the land, food, animals, history, or other people. The educational programs for families and children include making maple syrup; cooking classes; plantings; and workshops on composting, recycling, and green crafts. There is also an apprentice farmer program in which apprentices meet several times a week over a six-month period and are involved in all aspects of farm life. Ambler Farm hosts several special annual events, many of which are now Wilton traditions, including Ambler Farm Day, the Art of the Wreath party, a holiday greens sale, Valentine?s Day tea, and a summertime barbeque.
