The following charitable organizations are accepting donations throughout the holiday season for needy families in Fairfield County, CT. 


Child & Family Guidance Center

Bridgeport; 203-394-6529

This group's annual toy drive benefits needy CFGC families and extends until Christmas day. Participants can mail new, unwrapped toys or gift cards to CFGC or donate via the website.


City of Danbury Welfare and Social Services Department

Danbury; 203-707-4569

The city of Danbury is holding an "Adopt-A-Family" program where families who are unable to provide gifts to their children may request two gifts per child. Small and large businesses as well as local community members may then purchase the listed gifts (not to exceed $25), where they will be distributed over the holiday. New Fairfield Senior Center

New Fairfield; 203-312-5665
The New Fairfield Veterans Association continues their decade-long tradition of collecting clothes and personal items for veterans at the Castle Point VA Hospital in Beacon, New York, with a collection scheduled for December 5 from 10am to 2pm. The drop-off site is the New Fairfield Senior Center. For more information, contact Ralph Langham at 203-746-5400.


Fairfield University/Teddy Bears With Love

From now until December 10, Fairfield alumni, families, students and employees can donate new, unused teddy bears to Fairfield University Alumni Relations' Teddy Bears With Love drive. To participate, you can either send or drop off your donation to the Fairfield University Office of Alumni Relations.


Habitat for Humanity Westchester

New Rochelle, NY; 914-636-8335

The organization's Homes for the Holidays campaign, running through December, asks participants to help HFH build ten homes and raise pledge money in time for the holidays. HFH will also host a party for all of their Habitat families at New Rochelle High School in December where families can contribute to HFH's foreclosure fund.


Operation Hope

Fairfield; 203-292-5588

Operation Hope will be collecting gift card donations until the end of December. Participants are asked to purchase any type of gift card that would help a needy family purchase gifts for their loved ones. Gift cards may be mailed to Operation Hope, or dropped off. Call Michelle Stearns for further details.


Prudential CT Realty/Toys for Tots

Newtown; 203-426-8426; www.toysfortots.com

Prudential CT Realty will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for all ages at its office (33 Church Hill Road) until Christmas. Community members may drop donations off every day between 9am-5pm. This drive is sponsored by the Marine Corps and will be distributed to needy children throughout CT.
