Music to the Ears

It's never too soon (or too late) to develop your children's appreciation for different types of music. Since their tastes can be dictated by the latest trends, take advantage of this month's eclectic choice of concerts and expose them to jazz, classical, blues, rock, and more.

They Might Be Giants

Heather Hardy, electric violinist and vocalist, plays her own brand of blues. October 3. 2pm. FREE. Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road, Westport. 203-291-4810.

John Lennon's music appeals to all ages. In Remember Lennon: Imagine 70, an impersonator and accompanying band perform with an audio-visual backdrop. October 9. 7pm. $15-$58. The Shubert Theater, 247 College Street, New Haven. 203-228-6622.

In Hero Worship, Bitter Divorce and Revolutionary Genius!, Eckart Preu conducts the Stamford Symphony as they perform the works of such classical composers as Beethoven, Prokofiev, and Brahms. Preu shares secrets and stories with children one hour before the concert. October 16, 7pm; October 17, 2pm. $22-$72, children FREE on Sunday.
