The Discovery Museum and Planetarium is a museum for all ages.

From a full-dome planetarium and telescopes to our Challenger Learning Center offering unique team-building experiences for corporations and grade-appropriate STEM education, enjoy over 100 exhibit areas and galleries featuring interactive, hands-on explorations of science, technology and ideas. Every Day at Discovery:

Permanent ExhibitsOur permanent exhibits feature Space, Light, Sound and Green Energy galleries; the Henry B. duPont III Planetarium; and Connecticut’s only Challenger Learning Center. Visiting Exhibits Several times a year our main level galleries showcase different traveling exhibits from around the world. Each new exhibit provides you with a unique opportunity to “discover the wonder” in our world.


Birthday parties at The Discovery Museum cover a wide range of engaging science topics for children ages 3 to 13. Admission to museum exhibits and public planetarium shows are included in party fees.  Check our website for details.

Summer Programs: Pre-K – Grade 9

Sign your children up for our week or two week long, exciting, hands on programs and open the doors to a whole new world of exploration. Program instructors are members of the museum’s highly trained staff.  Go to our website for details.






Hands on Birthday Parties are Educational and Fun

Discover the science of snow at Discovery Museum’s Snowflake Celebration over the holiday break, Dec. 24-31 (closed Dec. 25). Enjoy additional daily planetarium shows (including “One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure” for children 6 and under), with the holiday schedule. Live science demonstrations, crafts and take-home activities Dec. 28-30. Special children’s weekend workshops all winter long; check our website for details. Explore new, interactive “Dare to Discover” challenges, plus “Adventure Science” climbing exhibit, “Get Physical!,” and Preschool Play Area. (3pm closing Dec. 24 and 31).
