About The Selma Maisel Nursery School at Temple Sholom
Selma Maisel Nusery School at Temple Sholom is located in Greenwich, CT and offers a hands-on, creative curriculum that fosters learning through play. Selma Maisel Nusery School provides rich life experiences in which children learn and grow through individual and group activities, such as storytelling, painting, music and movement, book publishing, sensory tables, block building, enrichment programs, and our state-of the-art Discovery Room where learning is alive with animals and on-site wildlife educators.
Through Israeli dance, holidays, festivals, and weekly Shabbat celebration, our children gain an appreciation for their Jewish identity. All of our teachers are professionally qualified to work with young children and are dedicated to bringing out the best in each child. Specialized staff visits the school on a weekly rotating basis, including a storyteller, a gym coordinator, an Israeli dancer, and a wildlife educator. Rabbi Hurvitz and Cantor Fradkin are also frequent visitors to our classrooms and provide an engaging introduction to Jewish culture.
Selma Maisel Nursery School is a place of community and fun, where families from Fairfield County, Westchester County and those relocated from Manhattan and New York City come together and develop lasting friendships. Our window-filled classrooms are spaces of natural light, bursting with color. Our walls and displays are print-rich providing exposure to words and labels, songs and poems. As children progress from 2-to-3-to-4 years old their classrooms increase in size and number of students, providing a comfortable adjustment into kindergarten. We take full advantage of the resources available to us at the Temple, including the Social Hall and playground for releasing exuberant energy and the library for quiet “reading” and thought.
