The Discovery Museum and Planetarium is a museum for all ages.

From a full-dome planetarium and telescopes to our Challenger Learning Center offering unique team-building experiences for corporations and grade-appropriate STEM education, enjoy over 100 exhibit areas and galleries featuring interactive, hands-on explorations of science, technology and ideas. Every Day at Discovery:

Permanent ExhibitsOur permanent exhibits feature Space, Light, Sound and Green Energy galleries; the Henry B. duPont III Planetarium; and Connecticut’s only Challenger Learning Center. Visiting Exhibits Several times a year our main level galleries showcase different traveling exhibits from around the world. Each new exhibit provides you with a unique opportunity to “discover the wonder” in our world.


Birthday parties at The Discovery Museum cover a wide range of engaging science topics for children ages 3 to 13. Admission to museum exhibits and public planetarium shows are included in party fees.  Check our website for details.

Summer Programs: Pre-K – Grade 9

Sign your children up for our week or two week long, exciting, hands on programs and open the doors to a whole new world of exploration. Program instructors are members of the museum’s highly trained staff.  Go to our website for details.

Hands on Birthday Parties are Educational and Fun!

A children’s science museum focusing on hands-on learning fun. Daily planetarium shows included with admission feature “One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure” plus shows for all ages. Interactive exhibits include Dare to Discover challenges, Adventure Science mini ropes course, Science on a Sphere, and Giant Light-Brite design station. Simulated NASA space missions in Discovery’s Challenger Center (a mock space station and mission control with state-of-the-art technologies) available for groups. Hands-on summer programs, children’s weekend workshops, and school holiday specials. Scout badge courses, themed birthday parties, overnights, museum and planetarium rentals for individuals, corporate, and non-profits.
