MVP Basketball Camp is the best choice for every basketball-loving boy and girl in Westchester County, NY and surrounding areas. A “Best of Westchester” winner in the sports camp category, MVP is a large day camp with a diverse camper population and a reputation for developing basketball and life skills in a fun and safe environment. MVP is able to create five different divisions each week with up to eight teams in each division for competitive play that the kids just can’t get enough of. This complements the daily drills that build skills.
Older girls are never thrown in to play with the boys. Children of all abilities are placed in a division where they will be comfortable and gain self-confidence. Every camper will be on a team for each entire week they attend led by one of MVP’s experienced coaches. High school interns lend support but all of MVP’s coaches are older and many are teachers and/or head basketball coaches.
This year MVP features a one-week skills academy that is designed for experienced players honing skills for travel basketball and varsity competition, but the other five weeks are open to children 6 – 16 of all abilities. Visit MVP’s website for specific weeks, locations, and program descriptions. And don’t forget to visit MVP’s guest speakers page featuring the likes of John Starks, Allan Houston, Nate “Tiny” Archibald and WNBA legends Sue Wicks and Kym Hampton.
Each week is a separate session. The base price is $400 per week, but multiple child and multiple week discounts will bring down that price. Plus you can use coupon code “earlybird” by April 30 for an extra 5% off. Scholarships are also available.
Meet the Camp Director
John Nemsick joined MVP Basketball Camp at its inception in 1994. He holds a master’s degree from Fordham University and a certification from Manhattanville College in educational leadership. Mr. Nemsick teaches middle school English at Fox Lane, and has coached basketball at every level in the secondary schools. Under his leadership, MVP has gained a reputation as the premier local basketball camp and was recognized in its 20th anniversary year by both White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach and Westchester County Executive Bob Astorino for its service to the community and in particular its youth development scholarship program.
