EDU - RELIGIOUS SCHOOLS
St. Mark the Evangelist School was founded in 1912 as the first NYC Catholic school for Black children. Over the past 100 years, the school has remained consistent in serving African-American children in Harlem and its surrounding communities, committed to its mission of “offering its children a holistic education that is academically fulfilling, shaped by Christian values and benefits” and attentiveness “to the heritage of African-Americans.” Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, St. Mark’s offers an extended day academic program, a full-day pre-school program, and before- and after-school programs.
