Description: Hear contemporary artists share their art-making techniques and sources of inspiration. Presentations are followed by a special Q&A.
Mark di Suvero creates playful sculptures on a monumental scale made of industrial products such as steel I-beams and plate as well as salvaged materials. Di Suvero constructs his sculptures himself—cutting and welding the steel and using the crane as a paintbrush. In 1986 di Suvero founded Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, Queens, and transformed it into an open studio and exhibition space for artists and a neighborhood park for local residents.
