'Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark' - The Foxwoods Theatre
Add to Calendar 27-04-2013 27-04-2013 15 'Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark' Theatre Development Fund's Autism Theatre Initiative is proud to present an autism-friendly performance of the spectacular musical SPIDER-MAN TURN OFF THE DARK at The Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street, NYC) on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2pm. To create an autism-friendly setting, the show is being performed in a friendly, supportive environment for an audience of families and friends with children or adults who are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder or other sensitivity issues. Slight adjustments to the production will include reduction of any jarring sounds or strobe lights. In the theatre lobby there will be quiet areas staffed with autism specialists, if anyone needs to leave their seats during the performance. A downloadable social story (in Word format) with pictures of the theatre and production is available on this page, designed to personalize the experience for each attendee with ASD. Additional resources for this performance, such as a Parent Guide and link to music from the show, are also available. Important: As the music in this production is from the rock 'n' roll world and not traditional Broadway melodies, we strongly encourage viewing the three-minute video found below, as well as downloading the recording prior to attending the performance. Please note the following aerial choreography: At the start of the show in line with "The Myth of Arachne," the character wraps one of the broken threads from her loom around her neck and falls, appearing to hang, as she transitions into a spider. Although it is a brief scene younger children may find it upsetting, and we ask you to consider this when purchasing tickets. Additionally, when Spider-Man and Green Goblin fly on wires over the audience, spotlights remain on them for safety reasons and this light is reflected on the audience. http://www.nymetroparents.com/2014neweventinfo.cfm?id=133342 The Foxwoods Theatre true DD/MM/YYYY
