Camp Broadway & Kermit Take Manhattan: 82nd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

  |  News & Tips

Families have the opportunity to come face to face with Dora the Explorer, Snoopy, and, of course, Santa Claus himself at the 82nd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year, Macy’s is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a few special surprises. The cast of Camp Broadway, consisting of 300 kids ages 10-17, will perform the closing number, “I Believe in Santa Claus” with Kermit the Frog, which will be televised live on NBC.  Buzz Light Year, Smurf, and Dr. Seuss’ Horton the Elephant join the cast of character balloons, and new floats will carry the Smurfs and Ocean Spray’s Woodland Family Gathering.

The parade, long considered the official start of the holiday season, will feature more than 1,200 cheerleaders, 800 clowns, 11 marching bands, 35 novelty balloons, and 27 floats, as well as many celebrities and performances. Don’t miss the inflating of the balloons the night before, as kids watch their favorite characters grow to epic proportions.

Balloon inflation: November 26, 2pm, Columbus Avenue at West 77 Street. Parade: November 27, 9 am, Central Park West and West 77 Street. The parade travels down Central Park West, turns on Columbus Circle, and continues down Broadway to Macy’s Herald Square.
