The NYMetroParents blogroll features the best blogs in the parenting world, from New York and beyond. Here's a closer look at why we love these mom bloggers and dad bloggers and how they're shaping the web for parenting today.

Blogging From: Manhattan

There is nothing really strange about Kristin Strange. In fact, she has led an interesting life; born a Californian, she went on to live in San Diego, Sydney, New York City, Hong Kong, and now has settled down with her husband and son, for now, back in the Big Apple.

On her blog, My Strange Family, Strange keeps her readers updated on the life of a stay-at-home mom and wife living in the city. From topics about her traveling husband and videos of Baby H (as her son is called) getting over his fear of going down the slide to more serious topics like the how’s and why’s of getting a life insurance policy, she writes in a way relatable way. Even heavier blog posts have a lighter tone as she compares getting life insurance to grocery shopping, something all parents can relate to.

She is a proud wife, mother, and blogger (she was invited to be on the Katie Couric show as a guest blogger) who relishes on the chance to sleep in, take Baby H to his art and music classes, but most of all and in the least strange fashion spend time with her husband and kid. The Strange’s are a traveling group and the blog takes readers on a journey with them with plenty of vacation pictures of the three in Antigua, Nantucket, Seattle, California, and then closer to home in the Hamptons and the Central Park Zoo. So if you’re an adventurous family too, check out this Strange family blog to get tips on how to travel easier with a child, ideas on cool cities to visit, and kid-friendly events happening around New York City. — Gordon Rago
