FREE Governors Island Family Fun Day

WHAT: Family Fun Day celebrates Governors Island's green spaces and its playful, free-range attitude. Held Memorial Day Weekend, this outdoor festival will feature live music, theatrical performances, storytelling, arts and crafts, educational workshops, ice cream, and a build-your-own playground. FREE Memorial Day Parade and Service

FREE Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum: Memorial Day Ceremony

WHAT: On Memorial Day, join hundreds of veterans to honor the armed forces with this special annual ceremony organized by the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. It will include the unfurling of a 100-foot American flag, the playing of Taps, ceremonial wreath laying and 3-volley rifle salute.

Memorial Day Badge-Making

WHERE: Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Ave., Harlem
AGES: Families with children ages 6-12
WHAT: Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died, as well as those who continue to serve in the United States armed forces. Visit Muslim in New York to discover the photograph of Debbie Almontaser and her son who served in the National Guard. Create a badge to honor and thank those who work hard to keep our country safe and free. This family program is geared to families with children ages 6-12 years old, and include a snack. Activities are designed for adults and children to complete together.

FREE Summer Movie Series
WHEN: Friday, May 26, 7pm
WHERE: Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, Pier 86, West 46th Street and 12th Avenue, Chelsea
WHAT: Watch a free movie under the stars! Sit back on the ship's flight deck, and take in a great movie, the city skyline and a view of the Hudson. You're welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets, as well as food and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy during the show. The flight deck opens at 7pm, and the movie begins at sunset, weather permitting. Admission tickets (free of charge) will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis before the screening. Space is limited. The first movie of the season is of course Top Gun! May 26: Top Gun. Series runs through Aug. 8.
