Paul Pellicoro’s DanceSport, New York’s largest Ballroom and Latin studio, with over 27 years of experience is proud to announce the launch of its Junior Ballroom Dancing Program, beginning in the fall of 2013. Your kids will finally be able to learn the moves that they’ve seen in “Dancing with the Stars” and “So you think you can Dance”, and discover the wonderful world of ballroom dancing.

Our comprehensive curriculum will expose students to the elements and fundamentals of ballroom dance in a nurturing, supportive and stimulating environment. They will learn dances such as: Rumba, Cha-Cha, Waltz, Jive, Samba and Foxtrot. Not only can they master the skills to perform these dances, but develop character, elegance and grace all at once.

At the end of their first semester they will have the opportunity to perform all they have learned in our Student Showcase for family & friends. They will also be provided with the opportunity to compete in prestigious local competitions if they express an interest in doing so.

Why Ballroom Dance?

Ballroom dancing offers a multitude of benefits for today’s youth. As a demanding physical activity it keeps them fit without ever noticing that they are working out. It is engaging and interactive; allowing kids to work on their social skills, get over their shyness, develop teamwork, respect, and cooperation. Its intellectual benefits allow them to learn focus and discipline, heighten creativity and even improve memory.

And whom are we kidding; Kids nowadays love to dance! As soon as they hear their favorite music they are bouncing around, tapping their feet, moving to the music; whether in front of a crowd or alone at home when they think no one is watching. Ballroom dancing is a great way to keep a hyper energetic youth busy and entertained. It provides the perfect elements of competitive sport to performance art to simple recreation. It offers a little for everyone and everyone is welcome to participate.
