Alyssa Volland
Owner, Mini Chef

Think of Mini Chef as culinary recess for kids. A place where children become chefs for the day as they learn how to make delicious food while having fun. Founded by Alyssa Volland in 2006, Mini Chef classes and birthday parties are held at renowned Manhattan restaurants (Dos Caminos, Wildwood BBQ, Paradou and Kelley & Ping) that both parents and children love. It is in these sophisticated atmospheres where children aged 3-13 study and prepare kid-friendly, healthy dishes and everyone gets to enjoy the fantastic food and atmosphere of these restaurants.

Mini Chef has received rave reviews by: LXTV, Telemundo, Sino TV (China), Pro Sieben (Germany), Nikkei Trendy (Japan), Martha Stewart Radio, The New York Times, New York Magazine, New York Post, Daily News, New York Family, Parent Guide, Urban Baby, and named Best All-Inclusive Birthday Party by Time Out NY Kids in 2008.

Cooking Classes: Food, family, and fun. These are the ingredients for Mini Chef Cooking Classes, culinary workshops held each weekend at select restaurants in New York City. Mini Chef offers kids the chance to be chefs for the day by rolling up their sleeves and cooking up a treat to later serve at home to their families. Each Mini Chef Cooking Class is 60 minutes long and is taught by a trained chef in a fun, kid-friendly way. Past classes have included: dim sum, empanadas, truffles, and brioche.

Birthday Parties: What's more fun than having a birthday cake? Having your birthday cupcake and making it too. And that's just what countless kids are discovering by having a Mini Chef Birthday Party. These unique, unforgettable celebrations allow birthday boys and girls and all of their friends to become "Mini Chefs" for the day as they each create - from scratch - their own delicious birthday party cupcake.  These one-of-a-kind tasty celebrations can be held at any location of your choice - from Mini Chef's restaurant partners to your very own kitchen. Plus, if cupcakes aren't your child's favorite, Mini Chef also offers the Pizza Party Workshop, Pretzel Factory, Fiesta and Dim Sum Fun party themes. Truly making these parties unique, each Mini Chef
