Sit and Sip

The Royal Tea Cup is hosting a Mother & Daughter Tea Time featuring all the comforts of the favorite English pastime. Indulge your senses with a warm pot of gourmet loose-leaf tea, English scones, preserves, Devonshire clotted cream, delicate cucumber tea sandwiches, and a sumptuous assortment of delightful sweets. Gather your little leprechauns and head to these local events to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. And don't forget to grab your green gear before you go!

Four Leaf Clover Ring: Make a Swarovski crystal ring in the shape of a four-leaf clover using provided materials. March 10, 7-9pm. $30. The Cupcake Corner, 61 New Hyde Park Road, Garden City. 516-328-2253.

Celtic Fun: Pop into the Long Island Children's Museum's theater for an exploration of traditional Irish music with Darlene Graham and the Shades of Green Band. Feel free to bring your best singing voice and join in. March 12-13, 2pm. $4 with $10 museum admission; $8 theater only. Long Island Children's Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City. 516-224-5800.

St. Patrick's Day Afternoon Tea: This celebratory tea time honoring St. Patrick's Day, hosted by The Royal Teacup, will include unlimited Irish Breakfast Harney & Sons Premium Tea, cucumber sandwiches with Irish butter, fresh baked scones, Devonshire cream, madeleines, and St Patrick's Day cookies. St. Patrick's Day Party: Wear your green; prepare and eat a St. Patrick's day meal that includes a grilled reuben panini, Irish scones, smashed potatoes, shamrock cookies, "Luck of the Irish" ice cream, and "Leprechaun Lemonade;" then make a craft. Award-winning musical superstar Dan Zanes and his band will present a family-friendly concert to delight parents and kids alike. The group, whose repertoire consists of oldies but goodies that have been fused with an updated beat, is well-known for its thigh slapping, foot stomping, danceable music. Zanes' rootsy, offbeat renditions, which bridge the gap between generations, make him an easy favorite among young people. March 26 at 11am. All ages. $35. Illustrator, songwriter, and musician Morgan Taylor kicks off his national tour of Gustafer Yellowgold's Infinity Sock this month. The show follows Gustafer as he embarks on a hilarious, mind-bending musical journey in search of the toe-end of the longest sock in the universe. March 27 at 12pm. $12. Long Island Children's Musuem; children with bug face paintInsect-Inspired Fun

Is your little one crazy for creepy crawlers? Let her loose at the Long Island Children's Museum this month during Bug Bonanza, where kids will discover the amazing lives and natural history of insects, spiders, and other creatures. They'll learn about bug anatomy, create insect-inspired crafts, participate in activity challenges, and enjoy a tasty treat made with edible insects. March 27, 1-4:30pm. FREE with $10 admission.
