Steps to Socialization

At Steps to Socialization, we understand that not all children process social information the same way. Our curriculum, designed for children through 12th grade, makes the hidden rules of daily social interactions simple and clear. Through targeted activities and role-playing, your child will gain the communication skills needed to navigate the social world. Parents and caregivers are an integral part of the team. We work together to reinforce the program at home and school.

Meet the Health Care Professional

Steps to Socialization was created by Lisa Freeman, a speech/language pathologist, and Evelyn Kashinsky, a parent of children with special needs, to help children who have difficulty socializing. Steps to Socialization is more than just a social skills program. We teach children how to think socially, step by step. Working in small groups of 3-4 students, we cover a variety of topics including how to establish and maintain friendships and initiating and maintaining conversation.
