    Cooking with Apples

    Celebrate the fall harvest with an Amazing Apples: Let's Make Applesauce workshop.  Kids discover facts about apples, learn how applesauce is made, and then make and eat their own. Afterwards, they'll

    Commander Cauliflower puppet show, FlushingVeggie Puppet Show

       If you have a hard time getting your kids to eat healthy foods, you might want to try a creative approach. The New York Hall of Science is putting on a puppet show, Commander Cauliflower, starring a puppet-in-charge who points out the difference between fruits and vegetables and encourages healthy eating in an interactive setting. For kids 6 and under. $11,  $8 ages 2-17 and 62+. Saturdays and Sundays through November 22. 12:30 and 3:30pm.     Canine Costume Contest at the Halloween Harvest FestivalCelebrate in the Park

       This 9th annual Halloween Harvest Festival features live music, a special art-making workshop, face painting, pumpkin painting, costume making, and the fifth annual Canine Costume Contest for dogs. October 17. The Red Door Theatre Company performs a spooky show at 2pm. Held rain or shine. All ages. 11am. FREE.     Boo at the Zoo, QueensCelebrate at the Zoo

       It's Boo at the Zoo, where animals receive special treats and families can stop by the extinct species graveyard to learn about animals of bygone eras. Also, enjoy a day of face painting and crafts starting at 10am. October 31. $7; $4 seniors; $3 ages 3-12; 3 and under FREE.     Join the Parade
       The Jackson Heights Halloween Parade is the second largest Halloween parade in New York. It features neighborhood kids and their costumes, as well as a few over-the-top grownups. October 31.
