    Halloween fun abounds around Nassau County, Long Island this October, with activities for families and kids of all ages. Here are a few of our favorites!

    It's Trick or Treat Time!

       From spooky carousels and haunted forests to costume parties and jack-o-lantern festivals, here's a sampling of some of the best Halloween events happening right here in Nassau County, Long Island.     Spooky Goings-On

       Visit the Spooky Carousel, featuring the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, a kid-friendly event with painting, crafts, trick-or-treating, and carousel rides. Or view Haunted Hangars, with more than 100,000 square feet of ghoulish aviation hangars. October 16, 17, 23, and 24. Evening hours; call for times. All ages. $10.     Long Island Children's Museum, 8th Annual Ghostly Gala, Garden City, Long IslandGhostly Gala

       At the 8th Annual Ghostly Gala at the Long Island Children's Museum, kids come dressed in costume, decorate a goody bag, go gallery trick-or-treating, listen to creepy music, create ghoulish craft projects, meet live animals, and get their faces painted. Special guests from the Bat Conservancy will be in the theater introducing kids to bats from around the world. All ages. October 24. 6pm. Advanced tickets required; call 516-224-5802. $9, plus an additional $4 for the Bat Conservancy.     Pumpkin Delight

       Illuminated jack-o-lanterns will cover the gorgeous grounds of the Nassau County Museum of Art, at the Twilight Pumpkin Spectacular. Spooky music and sound effects add to the mysterious merriment as hand-carved pumpkins, arranged by theme, bring delightful surprises along each meandering pathway. Tickets are sold for timed entry; advance ticket sales only. October 30. 6pm. All ages. $14; $7 ages 5-12; FREE under 5.     Family Fun

       Take a leisurely hayride on the Science Museum grounds during a Halloween Family Fun Party. Visit a mad scientist's laboratory where you can make gobs of sticky flesh, take a moonlight walk through a haunted forest, get nose-to-nose with creepy critters, and venture underground into the haunted cavern. Also enjoy face painting, a spooky story, trick-or-treating, and refreshments. October 30. 6:30pm. All ages. $15 per child (adults FREE). Registration recommended; call 516-627-9400 x10.     Bayville Scream Park, Bayville, Long IslandScream Fest!

       Celebrate Halloween at Bayville Scream Park  for "Not so Scary" Days for the kids as well as spooky attractions including Bloodworth Haunted Mansion, voted one of the scariest on Long Island; Mystery Funhouse; The Temple of Terror; The Curse of Zombie Pirates; The Scare Shop; Creepy Café, and more. Open daily, through November 8. 6pm-10pm weekdays; 6pm-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Haunted rides open at 7pm.  Kids "Not so Scary" Days, Saturdays and Sundays and Columbus Day from 11am-6pm.
