    The exhibition explores the legacy of Brooklyn's industrial past and the spectrum of pollution in which we live. The exhibition features 30 photographs by Robin Michals of sites in Coney Island, DUMBO, East New York, East Williamsburg, Gowanus, Greenpoint, Red Hook, Sunset Park, and Williamsburg where historic uses have saturated the soils and groundwater with a lasting toxicity.

    This ongoing exhibit highlights key moments in our nation's history and how they played out in Brooklyn. Visitors meet a range of Brooklyn residents through artifacts in the permanent collection of photographs, artworks, and documents. This includes Brooklyn's earliest Native American settlements, the men and women who fought in the Revolutionary War on Brooklyn's shores, Brooklynites who worked to abolish slavery, immigrants from all over the world who made Brooklyn home, and the women who kept America going by working in the Brooklyn Navy Yard during World War II.

    Families take a trek through natural habitats found in the midst of the city, from woodland fields to ocean tide pools. See what a fish sees inside a pond; harvest play vegetables in the community garden; meet live reptiles; and discover who lives under an oceanside dock.

    In this permanent exhibition, children can stroll down an urban street and journey around the globe. They can design a costume for the West Indian Day Parade in the mas camp; make a pizza in an Italian restaurant; ring up groceries at an international grocery; and dance in the Chinese New Year parade.

    Families discover treasures from the museum's collection and find out the stories they have to tell. Pilot a boat down the Amazon; reconstruct a shattered bowl like an archeologist; discover patterns in objects; and use touch alone to identify mystery objects.

    Crown Heights Neighbors - Brooklyn Children's Museum

    The works from photographers ages 10 to 71 from a photography contest are on display. The photos reflect the architectural, cultural, and geographical diversity of central Brooklyn neighborhoods, including scenes from a barber shop, a block party picnic, a senior center, picturesque streets, and more.

    Open Boat Tours - The Waterfront Museum
    Through December 31, 2009 - Brooklyn

    Come aboard the 1914 Lehigh Valley Barge #79, a floating museum and houseboat aboard the last remaining covered wooden barge. The exhibition, "Showboat-'Round the Bend" traces the history of the tug and barge "Lighterage Era" and showcases how food and comerical goods were transported before today's bridges and tunnels. A clown and juggler tell the story of the rescue of Barge # 79 and a bunny mascot roams about.

    Tibetan Portrait exhibit - Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art

    Photographic portraits of Tibetan people by renowned contemporary artist Phil Borges are featured. Families can view interactive displays focusing on aspects of traditional Tibetan culture, including a map of Tibet’s changing borders, a moveable display of Himalayan Mountains, audio recordings of mantra chanting, and a hands-on display of Tibetan prayer wheels.
