    Young Biologists: What's on the Menu? - Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Fairfield

    "One, two, three: Is there any food for me?" That's what the animals are thinking this fall. Whether they are stocking up for long winter nights or long fall flights to points south, animals are getting ready for the cold winter season. Join the Society's teacher-naturalists as they explore the 155-acre Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary for clues. Kids will also create experiments and study the Center's education animals. Advance registration required. For children enrolled in grades 3 to 5. Fridays through November 6 (No class October 23).

    DANCE AMERICA - Quick Center for the Arts

    Experience an evening that combines traditional dance forms from Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America with modern and urban dance. The result is emotionally charged pieces by Evidence, A Dance Company. Ronald K. Brown founded the company to create dance stories in response to the human condition. The performance will include his newest work, "Two-Year-Old Gentleman."

    Celebration Maze Opens - Stepping Stones Museum for Children

Enjoy vibrant images of parades, dancing, costumes, food, bonfires, and children's artwork as you travel through a new 1,400 square-foot outdoor maze in the museum's Celebration Courtyard.

    Robert January: Art & Human Consciousness - Quick Center for the Arts, Thomas Walsh Gallery
    Through December 06, 2009 - Fairfield

    The solo exhibition will include January's drawings and paintings, as well as his photographs of prehistoric art which inspired him to paint. Gallery conversations will be presented by Jean Clottes, Dr. Frank Wilson and other specialists in conjuction with the exhibit. Gallery hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 11am - 5pm; Sunday, 12 - 4pm.

    Storytime - The Orange Elephant

    Story hour for children of all ages. Parents are encouraged to sit and enjoy the stories or browse the selection of books and toys.

    Animalopolis IMAX - Maritime Aquarium
    Through December 31, 2009 - Norwalk

    Singing lions, bears that waltz, sea lions turning somersaults. Otters pray, flamingos squawk, a calf who'd rather dance than walk. They're all "stars" of this IMAX film developed for young children.

    Dolphins: The Ride - Maritime Aquarium
    Through December 31, 2009 - Norwalk

    Experience the world of dolphins as if you were one yourself, on this motion-simulator ride film. Riders must be at least 36 inches tall to board. Departs regularly throughout the day.

    Toy Boat-Making Workshop - Maritime Aquarium
    Through December 31, 2009 - Norwalk

    Visit the toy boat-making area on weekends for a 20-minute boat-building project. Build and decorate a toy sailboat to take home. Saturdays and Sundays until 3pm.

    Sustainable Choices: Living Today with Tomorrow in Mind - Discovery Museum and Planetarium
    Through December 31, 2009 - Bridgeport

    This interactive exhibit shows how the choices we make today impact the environment and the lives of future generations. Through December 31, 2009. Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday, 12 PM to 5 PM. Open Monday, October 12 and Monday, December 28.

    Bike Rides: The Exhibition - ALDRICH MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART
    Through January 03, 2010 - Ridgefield

    Race on over to this exhibit, which explores the increasing relevance of bicycles in contemporary art and culture. Bike Rides will feature customized bikes—bikes that have been re-appropriated by artists, enthusiasts, and designers to represent different identities and serve new and distinct functions. In addition, artworks by emerging artists and well-known international artists will also be featured. Through January 3.

    Deep Sea IMAX - Maritime Aquarium
    Through January 14, 2010 - Norwalk

    Swim with some of the planet's most unique, dangerous and colorful creatures, from the unusual wolf eel to the giant Pacific octopus, in this undersea exploration narrated by actors Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. Also shows at 1pm and 3pm daily.

    Exhibit: If These Walls Could Talk - Bush Holley Historic Site
    Through January 31, 2010 - Greenwich

    Visit the Museum Gallery and learn how the Cos Cob Harbor and Landing and Bush-Holley House have changed over the last 200 years. View seldom-seen artifacts, photographs, maps, letters, and portraits from the collection of The Historical Society of Greenwich. Through January 31, 2010. Gallery Hours: March through December: Wednesday - Sunday, 12-4pm. January and February: Friday - Sunday only, 12-4pm.

    Sunday Family Tours of Bush-Holley House - Bush Holley Historic Site
    Through January 31, 2010 - Greenwich

    Tour the Bush-Holley House on Sundays at 1pm. Kids can lead the way with the family gallery guide, Look and Learn: Inside the Bush-Holley House. Docents will be available to answer any questions. Then, visit the William Hegarty Gallery for a special scavenger hunt through the current exhibition.

    Penguins - Maritime Aquarium
    Through December 31, 2010 - Norwalk

    Come fall in love with the new colony of African penguins in a new outdoor exhibit, offering views above and below the water.
