Description: Flemish Baroque Painter Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1648) is one of the most remarkable European masters of the 17th century. His dynamic Baroque paintings, which blended his northern European sense of realism with the monumentality of Italian art, were celebrated throughout Europe. In addition to his renowned career as a painter, he was also a diplomat, a successful businessman and an intellectual who was fluent in six languages. As acknowledgment of Rubens greatness both Philip IV, King of Spain, and Charles I, King of England knighted him.
