Description: For Black History Month, Dr. Lynch will discuss Walker's novel about Celie, a poor, Southern black woman who writes letters to God over 20 years of her life. Raped by her father, married to the abusive Mister, Celie eventually engages with a number of other black women. For her ingenious and ground-breaking work, Walker won the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
