Description: New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute's Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis division continues the "Dialogues on..." series of discussions with leading child development experts. Dr. Patricia Nachman is a clinical psychologist and a child and adult psychoanalyst in private practice in New York City. She is on the faculty of, and a member of, New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute. She is also Attending Psychologist, in the Department of Psychiatry, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine; and on the faculty in Psychiatry at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Nachman is the former Director of Margaret S. Mahler Observational Research Nursery and a lecturer in graduate psychology at The New School. Prior affiliations include being Senior Research Scientist in the Laboratory for Developmental Processes headed by Dr. Daniel Stern in the Department of Psychiatry, of New York Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical Center. Through her clinical practice and research Dr. Nachman has gained considerable experience with children's reaction to loss. With the "Dialogues on..." series of discussions and Q&A, the NYC community has access to child development experts on relevant and pressing topics. The events are free and open to the public and are an integral part of NYPSI's commitment to community outreach. "Dialogues on..." events are geared towards professionals and parents who are involved with the care of children in the school and home environments. Educators, school administrators, community leaders, grandparents, and parents are welcome to attend. The "Dialogues on..." series is made possible by a generous donation to NYSPI from The Poses Family Foundation. Additional funding was received from The James and Judith K. Dimon Foundation in honor of Ms. Themis Dimon.
