Govinda Sah "Azad" is a celebrated, young Nepalese artist who studied in Nepal, Bangladesh, as well as London, where he is now based. The Universe Within, his first solo exhibition in the US, is an impressive display of his blossoming personal style -- an introspective of the human life and soul through the study and display of creative cosmic, nebulous, and celestial occurrences. His paintings sometimes include vivid colors, but the paramount focus is the sharp and breathtaking contrast he creates between darkness and light. Govinda's work encapsulates the Buddhist philosophy of inversion, an analysis of the macrocosm of the beyond in attempt to provide an awareness of inner humanity. Through his awe-inspiring depictions of the birth of stars and interactions between clouds, Govinda urges human understanding and recognition of a cosmic energy within. In 2010, Govinda's art was presented at the 7th conference on The Inspiration of Astronomical Phenomena (INSAP VII) in the UK. INSAP conferences are a series of international meetings held to observe and explore the effects of the stars and sky on art, literature, myth, and other forms of cultural history. This year he will be presented at the 8th conference taking place at the American Museum of Natural History on July 7-12, 2013.
