Description: The A.J. Meerwald, New Jersey's official Tall Ship, is a magnificently restored, two-masted, 115-foot oyster schooner, built in 1928, and driven by over 3,500 square feet of sail. The Meerwald visits Alpine just once a year for a series of themed sailings focusing on New Jersey's history, art, music, and of course, nature. This morning's trip features George Harlow, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences of the American Museum of Natural History. Guests can also learn about nautical knot tying with the crew of the Meerwald. This afternoon's trip offers kids ages 5-12 and their parents a hands-on learning experience as the director of Tenafly Nature Center will introduce you to Hudson River fish, crabs and other creatures. This evening's trip features the relaxing music of New Jersey-Based Folk Singer/Songwriter Spook Handy. Reservations are required. Presented by the Tenafly Nature Center.
