Description: Eight Fairfield County historical organizations have banded together to create the Great Letterboxing History Hunt. The event begins on March 29 and ends on April 6 with a festive family get-together at the Wilton Historical Society. This is how it works: Each participant carries with them a 'signature' stamp and a logbook (provided). Starting at any of the historical societies, the object is to go to each location, and once there, follow clues to find a letterbox hidden on the property. Inside the letterbox is a journal and a stamp; like a passport, the participant stamps the location stamp in his/her logbook, and in turn stamps the journal in the letterbox with their signature stamp. Participants have a week to go on the Great Letterboxing History Hunt. Those who make it to all eight locations and stamp the letterbox journals will get a prize. They will also be entered in a drawing for a grand prize, to be awarded at the closing event at the Wilton Historical Society from 4-5 on Sunday, April 6. This event is collaboration between the Fairfield Museum and History Center, the Historical Society of Easton, the New Canaan Historical Society, the Norwalk Historical Society, Ridgefield's Keeler Tavern Museum, the Weston Historical Society, the Westport Historical Society, and the Wilton Historical Society. March 29-April 6, 2014.
