Art Exhibit: 'Warhol: Paintings for Children' - 92nd Street Y
Hours: 12-4pm weekends, September 6 through October 4
1395 Lexington Avenue - 212-415-5500
Description: About 80 original Warhol paintings intended to appeal to children will be hung low so that kids can see them and get up close to them. From 12-4pm on weekends in September (starting September 10), kids can participate in art workshops (preregister online) that allow them to link the paintings in the gallery with work they create themselves. Workshops include a drop-in Silkscreen studio; those that explore Warhol's practice of transforming everyday objects into art by presenting them in new ways; creating images with rubber stamps and repetition; modeling and glazing a ceramic shoe inspired by Warhol's shoe drawings; and creating a metal fish bookmark that draws on Warhol's fish wallpaper design.
