Description: Initially, Brooklyn Museum's online community was asked to rate, by viewing for literally a second or less, a series of classical Indian paintings, prompted by questions regarding appeal, controversial nature, and overall quality in a timed trial. The results appear in this exhibition along with an explanation of how participants derived their responses. Split Second was inspired by author Malcolm Gladwell's work and offers a glimpse into how people respond to what they know, what they're asked, and what they are told about an object in question.
