Deafness Research Foundation's Annual "Celebrating the Senses" Reception - New York Academy of Medicine
1216 Fifth Avenue - 212-257-6145
Manhattan, NY 10029
Description: The Deafness Research Foundation will host its annual fundraising reception, "Celebrating the Senses." This exclusive event brings together 250 of New York's most influential socialites, opinion leaders, professional athletes, titans of industry, and brilliant scientific minds for an evening of culinary delights, live entertainment, and a silent auction with one-of-a-kind items and experiences. This year's reception will feature the premiere of a multimedia art installation by composer and artist Jay Alan Zimmerman, whose work utilizes rhythmic video projections, visual music, and synesthesia to truly celebrate the senses. Proceeds from the event will benefit DRF, whose mission is to attain a lifetime of healthy hearing and balance through quality research, education, and advocacy. Since its founding in 1958, DRF has awarded approximately 2,000 research grants, totaling over $26 million. The reception follows DRF's Hearing Restoration Initiative Summit, which will bring together the leaders in the field of cell regeneration research in the ear to discuss current research and potential therapies to restore hearing.
